Mongoose has released the Traveller Companion for Traveller 2. To somewhat mixed reviews. It is currently DriveThruRPG’s best seller.
It is a book of optional rules for Traveller and includes 2 new Careers (Truther and Believer) a new Race, Bestiary of alien creatures, optional Stats, changes to how skills work, etc. It basically allows the GM to tailor the game for settings other than the 3rd Imperium.
If you run your game in the Imperium, not a lot here to use unless you want more crunch in your game. And if you want more crunch, why not use Traveller 5?
If you aren’t running in the Imperium ( @Stu ) there may be some useful stuff here.

Thanks for providing a copy/paste of the contents. That’s very helpful. I really like how they offer things for whether you’d want to use gravity, STL, etc. The idea of gravitics scrunches my nose sometimes. Hard Scifi usually pleases me most, which is why I was so thrilled by Orbital 2100 (initially MgT1, now Cepheus Engine).
Do you have any idea what’s in the Pre-Career Options?
I have to be honest, Truther and Believer sound incredibly strange and a little wonky. Makes me imagine people who spent 4 years as InfoWars maniacs or members of some extremist church. Of course, I guess there isn’t a way to scribble “Former Cult Member” onto your character sheet in Traveller otherwise…

In the Main book you have the Pre-Career options of University and Military Academy, the Companion adds Colonial Upbringing, Merchant Academy, Psionic Community, School of Hard Knocks, and Spacer Community.
Believer is part of a Religious Org.
Truther is someone who Seeks to know or Claims to know the Truth about some fringe subject (The Ancients was given as an example)
So, yeah, what you said.

I picked this up a few days ago. The two new careers are the most interesting thing, to me at least.

I’ve been looking at Mongoose Traveller and love Sci-Fi RPGs. I’ve played Stars Without Number which as you probably know is Old School D&D mixed with Traveller.
Can’t wait till you run your next Traveller Game.
